El portal irlandés abordó al periodista deportivo y árbitro de fútbol Roosevelt Castro Bohórquez acerca de la creación de la tarjeta verde. Estos fueron los interrogantes realizados por el periodista y entrenador de fútbol David Williams.

¿Cuándo tuvo la idea de la tarjeta
verde?
“La tarjeta verde nace de una fusión de un arbitraje didáctico con el de uno de fortalecimiento en valores
que realizaba con los niños de nuestro
país, en 1986. Didáctico porque les empecé a enseñar las 17 reglas del fútbol y
de Fortalecimiento en valores porque vi que no les enseñaban y opté por crear
un manual de convivencia, en 1996. A través de una Laminita del Divino Niño
Jesús, figura religiosa muy seguida en Colombia, les imprimía con un sello de caucho una frase que decía: “Yo amo, tolero y
respeto a mi adversario”. El mensaje de la sagrada lámina se diluyó por
cuestiones religiosas de muchos niños, que tenían otros credos religiosos, como
musulmanes, evangélicos, judíos o
budistas. Opté por cambiar el código y me encontré que el señor Ken Aston había
inventado las tarjetas en el fútbol inspirado en los colores del semáforo. Fue
entonces que para el 2004, y en unas mesas de trabajo para el juego limpio del
fútbol aficionado de Antioquia, lo
cambié y le completé la frase que decía: “Yo amo, tolero y respeto a mi
adversario” con la de “Yo amo, tolero y respeto a mi adversario y contribuyo
con el juego limpio”.

¿Cuándo comenzaste a mostrar tarjetas
verdes en tus juegos?
Con la Laminita del Divino Niño Jesús empecé en 1996, pero, y cómo te explicada, las
implementé en el año de 2004 en varios juegos del fútbol infantil.

¿Cómo fue la reacción cuando le
mostró por primera vez una tarjeta verde a un jugador?
Fue de mucha curiosidad y susto, pero les expliqué la metodología que consistía en que no lo castigaba sino que
reconocía su comportamiento respetuoso y de juego limpio que había tenido
dentro del terreno de juego.

¿Los jugadores son fanáticos de la
tarjeta verde donde se implementan en Colombia?
Hay muchos jugadores y técnicos que la ven con buenos ojos, por el aporte
para la paz y la convivencia en el fútbol.
He realizado unos tests de opinión que están en mi Canal de Youtube y
muchos les ha gustado esta propuesta que premia el juego limpio.

¿Cuál es su esperanza para el uso
de tarjetas verdes en todo el mundo?
Mi deseo es que se incorpore en el reglamento del fútbol y que así la
puedan tener todos los que juegan este
deporte en nuestro planeta.
6. ¿Qué
otras medidas positivas podrían implementarse en el juego?
Creo que el alcance que tiene la tarjeta verde es muy amplio y que puede
servir para generar espacios para la paz y la convivencia, en el contexto del
fútbol.
Por ejemplo: que por cada acción de juego limpio y/o comportamiento
respetuoso de los jugadores, cuerpos técnicos o administrativos premiados con la tarjeta verde se dé un punto
y cinco anulen una amarilla, diez anulen una roja no violenta y 20 una
expulsión de cuerpos técnicos.
Igualmente, que sea el primer ítem de desempates. Del mismo modo, que si
cobran por una amarilla y una roja, que la verde también tenga un
reconocimiento económico a los jugadores o de uniformes o implementación
deportiva para los futbolistas aficionados y que al final de la temporada
deportiva se sumen las tarjetas individuales y colectiva y se premien a los
jugadores y equipos Fair Play, así como lo hacen con los goleadores o los
arqueros menos vencidos.

1. When did you have the idea of the green card?

2. When did you start showing green cards in your
games?

3. How was the reaction when you first showed a green
card to a player?
He was very curious and scared, but I explained the
methodology that consisted of not punishing him but acknowledging his

5. What is your hope for the use of green cards
worldwide?
My desire is that it be incorporated into the
regulation of football and so that everyone who plays this sport on our planet
can have it.
6. What other positive measures could be implemented
in the game?
I believe that the scope of the green card is very
wide and that it can be used to generate spaces for peace and coexistence, in
the context of football.
For example: that for each action of fair play and /
or respectful behavior of the players, technical or administrative bodies
awarded with the green card a point is given and five annul one yellow, ten
